2026 SJLBC Winter League - Fun in the Sun

Glorious sunshine brightened the green at San Jose Lawn Bowls Club for the Winter League 2026 pairs tournament! Across the 3 consecutive Saturdays of January 10, 17 and 24, each of the 14 participating pairs played 4 games per day. By the end, each team had played every other pair in the tournament. It was a fun opportunity for bowlers from various clubs to become better acquainted while enjoying their favorite sport together in the sunshine!
During the course of the tournament, several substitute bowlers also got the chance to share in the excitement while gaining valuable tournament experience. Teams were able to choose from a list of available substitute players or make private arrangements for a substitute.
SJLBC tournament director Mark Cooney kept the tournament organized and running like clockwork. With the help of Michael Coiner, he launched a system enabling people to view the tournament score in real time on the SJLBC website! THANK YOU Mark and Michael! A big THANK YOU also goes out to Marge Ling, Muriel Pusateri and the other supportive members of SJLBC who worked and planned long and quietly behind the scenes to provide morning and lunchtime refreshments!
The Results (Pictured left to right below):
1st Place: The pair of Dan Lemessurier and Rob Hoey impressively suffered no defeats and won first place with 36 out of 36 total game points.
2nd Place: 2nd place went to Tom Burnoski and Jim Corr with 24 total game points.
3rd Place: 3rd place went to John Rubel and Luis Zapata with 22 total game points.
